Hello! I’m Sabrina Arredondo and I’m currently in my fifth year at California State University, Chico studying English Education. I’m originally from a small town called Wilmington in the greater Los Angeles area. I come from a family of seven where our parents instilled an importance of hard work and perseverance in us. My father always made sure that we had a plan after high school; mine happened to be higher education with it known that I’d go into teaching afterward. After living my whole life under one small roof in LA, at 17 years old, I made the big move up north to further my education. While being up here, I experienced a major culture shock. I moved from a huge, bustling city and to a small quiet town and the people couldn’t have been more different. I’m so happy to have had this experience and had the opportunity to travel the state, because not many people from my hometown do not get the same opportunities. After attending a high school that didn’t receive very much resources and spent too much time on punishing their students for lack of motivation,I knew immediately that I wanted to get into teaching. I would love to be able to provide my students with the same opportunities and advice for their future. I had a passion for writing and reading and felt that English would be the perfect way to really connect with students and hopefully instill in them a love for writing and reading as well.
On this website, you will find various assignments that showcase my knowledge on this subject and abilities in handling the tasks given to me. Accompanying each task will be the standards they uphold and how they uphold them. Additionally, you will come across my teaching statement where I better explain my hopes and beliefs for my classroom. Below is a link to my email!
